About The Artist Luke Andrews
Luke is a self-taught chainsaw artist, born in Ajax, Ontario,
Canada. He currently resides in Pickering, Ontario with his wife Sandy
and their best friend, Cujo. Luke discovered his unorthodox artistic
talent almost by accident. Early in the ongoing renovation of their
home in 1996, he needed two support posts for an archway. He went to
his father's property and found two fallen trees that would be ideal
for the archway. On the spur of the moment, he picked up his chainsaw
and carved two unique gnome-like faces in the trees. Thus started a
whole new career as a chainsaw artist.
Each time he picks up the chainsaw he creates a
unique piece. Sandy always looks forward to see what will come out of
the next log, for no two pieces are alike. Luke has been blessed with
this great gift, he can carve almost anything from realistic to
whimsical to abstract. Bears, eagles, totem poles, nautical sculptures,
creatures and caricatures are most popular. He also carves reliefs,
signs and benches. His artwork graces entrance ways, gardens, private
residences, schools, and parks. Sandy usually applies the protective
coat of oils, stains, paints or UV sealer.
Luke has appeared on many television shows such as HGTV, Breakfast Television,
Rogers and NBC News. He has been featured in many American and Canadian
newspapers demonstrating his artwork. Luke has generously given back to
his community and to numerous charitable organizations. His scultures
have found their way to many parts of the world. His current pieces are
on display at his new location. For further information and directions
