About Luke & Sandy Andrews
Luke discovered his unorthodox artistic talent almost by accident. Early in the ongoing renovation of our home he needed two support posts for an archway. He went over to his dad's place, standing in three feet of snow in amongst the cedar forest. He picked out two fallen trees and carved two gnome like faces in the logs that stand as supporting columns inside our front door today. Comments from friends and neighbors on the gnomes and a request from someone who wanted to purchase a piece, finally convinced Luke that he had this hidden talent and to keep carving.
Each time he picks up the saw he seems to create unique pieces. I always look forward to see what will come out of the next log, for no two pieces are alike. Today Luke carves Bears, Owls, Eagles, Totems, Busts, Gnomes, Whimsical Faces and other creatures and caricatures. I usually do the finishing by applying oils, stains, paints etc. We both quit our jobs to do this on a full time basis and have found this career move to be both fascinating and a challenge.
Please call or come visit us for further information on all our carvings. We are open Friday through Sunday. If you woul dlike to visit at another time feel free to contact us and arrangements can be made.
